Salma Hayek married a billionaire but remains determined to grow her own fortune.
“I support a lot of the aspects of my life and myself,” Hayek said. “I have the pressure to make a certain amount of money, and I like it. And now, I decided, I want to make more.”
The couple tied the knot back in 2009, and Hayek revealed they have no prenuptial agreement to divide assets, instead planning to keep their finances separate.
Hayek reportedly has a net worth of nearly $200 million, and continues to explore different business ventures to the excitement of her husband.
The couple have a daughter, Valentina. Hayek also takes the role of stepmom to Pinault’s three children from two previous relationships.
Although the Mexican-American actress is no stranger to wealth—her father was an oil executive in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico, and her mother an opera singer—she did experience hardship in her mid-20s when she moved to Los Angeles. At the time, her father had lost his fortune, and she was a struggling actress.
She recalled that was when she “became the best version of myself,” and took matters into her own hands to find the means to support herself and her family back in Mexico.
Hayek got her big break starring in the 1995 film “Desperado” and has since garnered over 80 film credits throughout her career.
She is best known for major roles in “From Dusk Till Dawn,” “Once Upon a Time in Mexico,” “Fools Rush In,” and “Frida,” for which she became the first Mexican to be nominated for best actress at the Oscars.
In 1999, she added the title of producer to her resume, founding the film and television production company Ventanarosa.
Hayek also found a passion for philanthropic work, supporting various women’s causes such as combating gender-based violence and sexual abuse.
